Meet the Craftsman
Cases’ Handcrafted Furniture is a Kansas City-based custom, artisan furniture company which specializes in heritage benches, footstools, ottomans and coffee tables. While fighting a 25-year battle with chronic Lyme disease, founder Eric Case, with the help of his wife Stacey and brother David, established the company as a way to work from home and manage the day-to-day battle of Lyme.
This was a fun and welcome transition after a career in construction that spanned over two decades. Eric built ultra-custom homes on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. In these Architectural Digest-featured homes every detail mattered. Eric also spent over 10 years building utility-scale wind farms in the US, Bahamas, Uruguay, and Brazil.
Eric has been fortunate to be exposed to fine workmanship and quality pieces at a young age and has developed a keen eye for detail. Eric wanted a way to incorporate his appreciation of fine vintage and one-of-a-kind artisan items with his detail-focused experience in construction and, thus, Cases’ Handcrafted Furniture was born. A naturally creative and adventurous soul, Eric felt that this business change was his perfect niche, and his deep devotion to craftsmanship is clear in each timeless creation.
Eric, a lifetime traveler and sportsman, finds inspiration in his many hobbies including leather braiding, hunting, fly fishing, and wilderness canoeing. He is able to see and incorporate the beauty of his surroundings in his craft. Many of the patterns and textiles Eric has incorporated have been sourced globally and feature unique designs to reflect a specific style or location.
With the love and support from family, Eric was able to take this artistic passion and hobby that began in his home studio and turn it into a real family-run business. His wife Stacey and daughter Sophie have become integral in the actualization of this business. Stacey is the voice, charm and laughter of Cases’ Handcrafted Furniture. She is in charge of posting our story and creations on social media accounts . Stacey has an amazing sense of style and she sources most of the wonderful handwoven textiles that are the soul of each piece. She is also a gifted carpenter and thrilled to be on the saw every chance she gets.
Often the entire family gathers in the studio working on custom creations. Coco, Eric’s canine canoe companion, is rarely very far from the action. If Stacey is the voice, David is the motor and he helps keep everything moving! David, a successful small-business owner himself, brings amazing entrepreneurial vision and a passion for perfection to the enterprising young team.
